Get an LCC eTag in five easy steps

Prependix
LCC - Lekki Concession Company
-------------------------------

Having gotten my Lekki toll gate eTag (ready for collection) in under 24 hours, I will never understand why many daily pliers of the Lekki-Epe expressway continue to subject themselves to the hardship of tollgate queues.

DISCLAIMER: I actually understand, but ain't nobody got time to talk about the sorry state of the average Nigerian man.

Honestly, I would never have imagined the process was this seamless if I had not tried myself. In light of that, I think I could help a couple of folks who just need it spelt out to them why they should get their electronic tolling device right away!!!

WHY SHOULD YOU GET AN eTag?
It's very easy to get. LCC is not a government agency, or if it is, at least, it's not the typical one. Why do I say this?

The customer service I got while trying to find my way around the registration process was unbelievably good for typical Nigerian standards. Also, my tolling devices were ready for collection within two hours of my submitting my application.

Also, it's 100% free to get the device and you pay 10% less than the cash bearers for each passage through the toll gate.

Now, do I hear you ask how to go about getting yours too? Say please...

Okay, okay; here we go:

HOW TO GET AN LCC eTag/Swiftpass Plus DEVICE

Step 1

Download the registration form from (click) here.

Step 2

Upload the registration form to https://www.pdfescape.com/ and fill it with all the required information. Once done, save the completed copy of the form to your computer. Ask if you need any further help at this stage.

Step 3

Scan the following credentials:
i.  Proof of vehicle ownership document (or some other document which shows that you're authorised to use the car in question)
ii. Valid ID: Drivers License/National Passport
ii. Photocopy of unexpired vehicle license (s)

Step 4

Create an email with the subject: "Application for eTag + Swiftpass Plus" with the following attachments:
i.  All documents scanned in step 3
ii. Completed registration form saved in step 2

Step 5

Send the email to LCC Customer Service (customerservice@lcc.com.ng). The body can be as simple as:
"Good day, Subject refers. Kindly inform me as soon as my eTag is ready for pickup. Thank you".

If the company does not get infected with the Nigerian flu of indiscipline, trust me, they'll get right back to you in no time.

WHAT I LEARNED IN THE PROCESS
1. The application form on the LCC website (http://www.lcc.com.ng/application.asp) might be redundant. I filled and submitted it but they did not get the information; allegedly. Not hard to believe.

2. Emails sent to registrations@lcc.com.ng do not get delivered. Don't waste your time following the instructions on the website that say you should send your supporting documents to that address.

3. LCC actually has a toll-free customer care line:0800 22 555 22. So, just call them for free if you need any help or do not get a response to your email.

Thanks for the feedback; I hope more people find this. Life is too short to spend waiting in toll-gate queues

What kind of article is this in which you did not state the cost of the eTag?

Hi,

I lifted the quote below from the "Why should you get an eTag" section of the article:

"Also, it's 100% free to get the device and you pay 10% less than the cash bearers for each passage through the toll gate".
