I'm a self-admitted cheapskate. I think I'm the kind of person who likes to put all my chips on the table to minimize surprises. And that's exactly what I'm doing in this paragraph. So, you won't think you've dug out the most valuable piece of information in the history of mankind when at the end of the post, you shake your head and say to yourself, "This dude is so cheap"! Thank you, but I know too and I'm proud of it.
That done and dusted, another thing I would like to admit is that the title of this post is intentionally misleading and is solely intended to gather views for this post. It's shady of me to do this, but I know it will increase the visibility of this post, which is my ultimate intention. Phew, I feel like such a con. Now, let's get to the meat of the post.
REAL TITLE: How to evade 100 naira surcharge on DSTV subscription payment
TL,DR: You can pay exact amount (no surcharge) for your DSTV subscription by paying through http://eazy.dstv.com/. Boycott your internet banking. Shun the ATM. Ignore the dealer's shop. Delete your Quickteller account. Obey the cheapskate's manifesto and pay your DSTV bill through DSTV's self-service website. Convenience fee and its beneficiaries can go... *fill in most vulgar expletive you can think of*.
PROCEDURE FOR PAYING YOUR DSTV BILL FOR FREE
1. Open http://eazy.dstv.com/ in your web browser
2. Click "Sign In"; yes, look for it and click it. I won't tell you where it is cos' that can change with design anytime
3. Log-on using the phone number linked to your DSTV account and your smart card number
4. Once logged on, look for "Pay" or any related term on the page and click it
5. Enter the amount you want to pay and select "Zenith GlobalPay" as your payment option
That's it, go ahead and pay. Hopefully, you don't expect me to tell you how to do that as well. Kindly refer to Zenith bank payment gateway team if you need assistance in that regard. My guess is that for some other payment options on eazy, there will be no surcharge added at the payment gateway as well. I might be wrong, but I believe this freebie extends to some of the other payment options captured in below image:
Have a great day ahead. And feel free to thank me in the comments for saving you 100 naira. You can appreciate me further by saving up this commission until it's high enough to buy my next DSTV subscription.
Finally, I reallydo not hope that this does not get so popular as to attract the kind of attention that will make DSTV's cheap-ass realize that they can save commission costs on this payment channel by passing it on to their customer as surcharge.
